Search Union County Criminal History

A Union County criminal history check draws from several official record systems rather than one complete local database. The Sheriff's Office creates incident and booking records, the Clerk maintains filed court cases, and Florida agencies add statewide history, custody, supervision, and registry information. To check Union County criminal history well, begin with the office that created the record and compare later outcomes across the relevant channels. That method separates an initial arrest from a filed charge, a final disposition, or a current custody entry while reducing same-name errors in Union County criminal records.

Union County Criminal History Checks

No single Union County search combines sheriff reports, jail status, filed cases, FDLE history, warrants, prison custody, and registry records. Start with the office that made the record. A recent local event belongs first with the Union County Sheriff's Office. A charge or outcome belongs with the Union County Clerk. A statewide identity-supported history belongs with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Collect the full legal name, date of birth when lawfully available, prior names, approximate date, location, and any case, booking, or report number. Name-only results can join different people.

  1. Ask UCSO at 386-496-2501 whether it holds the report or current jail record.
  2. Call the Clerk at 386-496-3711 after charges may have been filed.
  3. Compare the alleged charge with the court's filed charge and final outcome.
  4. Use FDLE's public search for the broader Florida repository view.
  5. Order the correct certified copy or fingerprint review when identity matters.

Official Background Checks in Florida

FDLE is Florida's central criminal-history repository. Its official Florida checks include a paid public name search, staff-assisted results, and a fingerprint-supported Personal Review for a person checking their own record. The repository view is broader than Union County but is not a Clerk case file.

FDLE Instant costs $24 plus $1 card processing. A staff certified or noncertified result costs $24. Personal Review is stronger for identity and correction work because fingerprints distinguish similar names.

The FDLE Florida checks page sets out the available official products.

Its statewide scope does not replace the Union Clerk's detailed case file or UCSO's recent local report.

For self-review, FDLE explains its fingerprint-supported Personal Review.

Fingerprint comparison is the soundest way to resolve a same-name match or prepare a challenge.

Four Trails Follow a Union County Arrest

An arrest can create four related records. The arresting agency writes the report. The Union jail records intake and custody. The Eighth Circuit State Attorney and Clerk create the prosecution file. FDLE receives fingerprint-supported arrest data and later dispositions.

The entries can differ because initial charges may be changed, declined, dismissed, or resolved under another statute. Follow the record to the last official outcome.

Kinds of Union County Criminal Records

Union County records are defined by their creator. Sheriff files describe reports, arrests, and booking. Court files show charges, hearings, and judicial outcomes. State systems add repository history, corrections, supervision, and registration data.

The source matters because no record answers every question and an early allegation is not a conviction.

  • Arrest and booking records show the agency, initial charge, bond, holds, and custody status when public.
  • Criminal court files carry filed counts, hearings, pleas, orders, outcomes, and sentences.
  • FDLE history links fingerprint-supported Florida arrests with reported dispositions.
  • Warrants may appear with UCSO or in the issuing court file, subject to limits.
  • FDC and registry records concern state custody, supervision, or qualifying registration.

No Public Union County Jail Roster

As inspected July 17, 2026, UCSO advertised no inmate search, daily booking log, or mobile app. The practical custody check is 386-496-2501, the jail or Room 102, a Chapter 119 request, or Florida VINE. A press release is not a complete arrest list.

VINE supplies custody notifications, not criminal history. FDC Offender Search applies to state prison or supervision, while BOP covers federal custody. Results for another state's Union County are not valid local substitutes.

Union County Criminal Records: What They Contain

Fields vary by source. A sound match uses several identifiers and treats the final disposition as distinct from the first accusation. Confidentiality flags and redactions may withhold protected data.

Reading Union County Case Outcomes

“Nolle prosequi” means the prosecutor ended the charge. A dismissal means the court or prosecution terminated it. Withheld adjudication is not an adjudication of guilt but can affect sealing eligibility. Acquittal or not guilty is a merits result. None automatically erases the arrest trail.

Nolle prosequi
The State Attorney stops prosecuting a count.
Capias
A court command that may authorize custody.
Disposition
The official outcome rather than the first charge status.

Requesting Union County Sheriff's Records

UCSO is the primary local law-enforcement custodian because no active municipal police department was found for Lake Butler, Worthington Springs, or Raiford. A request can be made at Room 102, by phone at 386-496-2501, by email to sheriff@unionsheriff.us, or by mail to 55 West Main Street, Room 102, Lake Butler, FL 32054. Records staff list weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Give a case number when known. Otherwise include the date, time, exact location, deputy or agency, names, and the type of item requested. Ask separately for an incident narrative, arrest report, CAD entry, 911 audio, body-camera media, or booking record because those are not interchangeable. UCSO publishes no fixed turnaround or full fee table, so request an estimate before agreeing to copies or extensive media work.

Florida Public Access Laws

Florida's Constitution and Public Records Act favor access to nonexempt agency records, but specific statutes protect sensitive material. A focused request identifies the record, date, place, people, and format. Agencies may charge authorized copy and extensive-use costs and must respond in good faith rather than within one universal number of days.

Key Florida laws:

Chapter 119 governs access to nonexempt public records and authorized charges.

Section 943.053 governs dissemination of Florida criminal-history information.

Section 985.04 generally protects juvenile justice information.

Section 316.066 restricts crash reports for 60 days.

Florida's official Chapter 119 publication supplies the controlling public-records text.

Florida Public Records Act Chapter 119

The statute explains why access begins with the record's custodian and why exemptions remain record-specific.

FDLE also publishes a guide to Florida criminal-history data.

The guide reinforces that repository data depends on reports from criminal-justice partners and later disposition updates.

Union County Warrant Checks Need Care

UCSO's Civil/Warrants unit has no public name-search list. Verify through 386-496-2501, the Union Clerk file, or a focused request. FCIC and NCIC are law-enforcement systems, not public portals.

For one's own suspected warrant, contact the issuing court or counsel before appearing unexpectedly. Confirm the case, charge, bond, safe surrender instructions, and whether a recall reached every system.

Restricted, Sealed & Expunged Records

Juvenile files are ordinarily confidential. Public records may also protect victims, minors, Social Security numbers, full financial identifiers, sealed material, or active investigative details. Florida sealing and expunction depend on the full case history, the offense, prior relief, and statutory exclusions.

The Union County path begins with a certified Clerk disposition. The current FDLE packet requires fingerprints, a $75 fee, and any needed prosecutor certification. After FDLE issues a Certificate of Eligibility, the petition goes to the court that handled the case. The certificate alone grants no relief, and the researched FDLE eligibility review was about 12 weeks without expedition.

City-by-City Criminal Records in Union County

Lake Butler, Worthington Springs, and Raiford have no official municipal police portal or standalone municipal court. UCSO holds local incident and booking records, and Union County Court handles misdemeanors, criminal traffic, and ordinance cases. Each city guide explains its local routing and identity traps.

Union County's Corrections Population Caveat

Florida's April 1, 2025 estimate counted 16,821 people in Union County, including 4,800 inmates, and 12,021 excluding inmates. That gap makes per-capita claims easy to misuse. County UCSO data cannot be relabeled as city crime, and institutional population does not prove resident offending.

FDC Offender Search is correct for state inmates and adult felony supervision. Union County Jail is correct for local custody. Union Correctional Institution is in unincorporated Union County, while Florida State Prison uses a Raiford postal identity across the Bradford County line.

Union County Probation and Release Records

Adult felony probation and community control in Union County are supervised by Florida Department of Corrections Community Corrections in the Eighth Circuit. FDC Offender Search separates inmate, supervised, released, and escape populations. A name search may show a DC number, photograph, offense, sentence dates, supervision status, office, facility, or release information. County Court probation also appears in the Union Clerk case file, while juvenile probation belongs to Florida DJJ.

“FDC supervised” does not always mean parole. Most modern Florida prison sentences are not parole-eligible. The Florida Commission on Offender Review makes parole and certain post-release decisions, while FDC supervises releasees. To identify the actual status, compare the Clerk's sentence with the FDC supervised-population result and then contact the listed field office or FCOR for the applicable release mechanism.

A supervision violation can generate several Union County records: an officer report, a warrant, a Clerk motion, a hearing entry, and an order that modifies or revokes supervision. Public access can vary because treatment details, officer-safety information, and some violation material are protected. A searcher should identify the case number and supervision type before assuming that one status label tells the whole story.

Union County Offices and Record Boundaries

The official Union County government site provides the local government context for offices based in Lake Butler.

Official Union County Florida government website

Administrative county information can help locate an office, but criminal reports still come from UCSO and judicial files still come from the Clerk.

The State Attorney's Union branch at 103 North Lake Avenue handles prosecutions in the Eighth Judicial Circuit, including work connected with major detention facilities. The Public Defender's circuit office represents eligible accused people. Neither office replaces the Clerk as custodian of the official court docket. Knowing the document's creator prevents a request from circling among nearby offices.
